As Ye Have Found The Lord ... There Remain

"It seems like that servant of God, who wrote that psalm (Psalm 62) felt or imagined that he had much opposition, that he was being assailed, but he spoke the wonderful words which God gave him -- 'I shall not be greatly moved.' And when every member of the church, when every child of God will stand on their feet and realize that he should not be greatly moved; that we should abide; we should remain in that precious faith unto which we've been called; and, as the brother also mentioned, when changing times are mentioned to us we should very carefully consider what we'd do to meet those changing times. It is true, the times do bring problems, and we believers also have to reckon with that fact. But, as the brother mentioned; as the Word of God told us: 'Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever.'

And, in this present time, where so many are crying, 'Here is Christ and there is Christ,' we can only repeat and say, 'As ye have found the Lord, and where you have found Him, there remain.' That is the teaching of God's Word."

Crossing the Red Sea

By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned. --Hebrews 11:29

Have you come to the Red Sea place in your life,
Where in spite of all you can do,
There is no way out, there is no way back,
There is no other way but through?
Then wait on the Lord with a trust serene
Till the night of your fear is gone;
He will send the wind, He will heap the floods,
When He says to your soul, “Go on.”

And His hand will lead you through–clear through–
Ere the watery walls roll down,
No foe can reach you, no wave can touch,
No mightiest sea can drown;
The tossing billows may rear their crests,
Their foam at your feet may break,
But over their bed you shall walk dry shod
In the path that your Lord will make.

In the morning watch, ‘neath the lifted cloud
You shall see but the Lord alone,
When He leads you on from the place of the sea
To a land that you have not known;
And your fears shall pass as your foes have passed
You shall be no more afraid;
You shall sing His praise in a better place,
A place that His hand has made.

Our Sword in Combat

Awake, ye witnesses! Be burning
In deepest love; inflame also our hearts;
Let from above descend upon us
The fiery tongues that with their flaming darts
Rise up and melt together, we implore,
In fervent heat the faithful evermore!

We are engaged in mortal combat;
A coward soon despairs, turns back and flees,
But he whom Christ gives sword and armor,
Will persevere and gain eternal peace.
Then joyfully, O brethren, ever on;
For after victory we’ll wear the crown.
-Zion's Harp #192 vs. 1, 6

"Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God." -Ephesians 6:16-17

Stay On The Cross!

My loved ones, there is no other way. God Himself has no other way to deal with sin, but only one way. And that is the cross.
And you’ve heard me say it before. The devil has twisted that around. And the devil has no objections if you hang a cross around your neck. The devil has no objections if you wrap the cross around your hands and you say so many prayers.
Just don’t get on the cross and be crucified, because that’s the end of your sinful life. And only he that is crucified – that is dead to sin – is free from sin.
And my dear brother, my dear sister, if you’re ever looking for trouble, if you ever want to look for trouble, just step down off that cross. And the devil will unload plenty on you. He will tell you to ask for your rights, to be treated right, to be spoken to right, to do this and to do that. Pride will come back into your life. Arrogance will come back into your life. Everything …
Stay on the cross!
Look at a crucified man, that is crucified, that is dead. See how many rights he has. See how proud he is. See what nationality he belongs to. See what he wants to be. See if he wants to be up front or in the back, or whatever he wants to be. All that is gone.
The cross is the answer to sin. God says so.
The Apostle Paul [says] that he is crucified, nevertheless he lives. When Jesus Christ took my sins upon Himself and they became His, the only answer that God had for His only begotten Son was the cross.
Are you baptized? Have the road signs been twisted around on you? Following the wrong direction? If you are, you’re going to wind up in the wrong place. And, after this morning, you will have no excuse.
The cross wrapped around your hand and saying prayers is not going to save you. The cross around your neck is not going to save you.
And, oh my loved ones, go to the cemetery. And look at the tombstones, at the places where people are buried. I venture to say on every one of them, you’ll find a cross. That’s too late. The devil has won the victory if that’s the only time that you have come in contact with the cross.
Don’t be deceived! Don’t be fooled! The only way God can deal with you is to crucify you, your old sinful nature.

The Lord Will Provide

In some way or other, the Lord will provide:
It may not be my way,
It may not be thy way;
And yet, in His own way,
"The Lord will provide."
Then we'll trust in the Lord,
And He will provide;
Yes, we'll trust in the Lord,
And He will provide.
--Gospel Hymns #7

This verse was a recent reminder of an account told by a deceased elder brother about his grandmother. His grandparents lived in difficult financial times and had literally nothing to eat in the house one day. His grandmother went outside and kneeled to pray, asking God to provide for their needs. While she was praying, a rabbit hopped into her apron.

Yes, it may not be OUR WAY (the way we would choose), but the Lord WILL PROVIDE.

Eternal is Our Goal

What may take place about us,
We scarcely hear or see;
May these go on without us;
No idle dreams have we.
Eternal is our goal;
Our dealings are in heaven;
Our life to God is given;
Our very heart and soul.

We journey in seclusion,
Despised and quite unknown,
Unseen mid the confusion
Of this land, not our own;
Yet, if this world pays heed,
It hears our voices ringing,
Songs of the homeland singing,
For which we yearn indeed.

--Zion’s Harp #185 vs. 9 and 11

"Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God." --Col. 3:2-3

Thoughts: The more we are 'dead' and hidden in Christ, the less troubled we will be by what goes on around us. If our thoughts and deeds are fully occupied with heavenly matters already in this life, the transition to heaven, when our time comes, will be so beautiful and natural.

On those rare occasions when the world gives heed to our lives, do they hear our voices ringing with yearning and songs of the homeland? Or does our conversation betray that we prefer to be citizens of this earth?

Purpose Statement of this Site

The verses in the profile (Hebrews 10:23-25) have such significance for today.
Read the headlines in today’s news. Is the day approaching?

Not long ago, a minister said words to this effect: “For many years, brethren have talked about the Lord’s return and wondered how and when it would occur. But, for the first time in history, with the communications and other devices we have today, we can understand how the Book of Revelation can be fulfilled.”

Do we see the day approaching? If our eyes are open to watchfulness and our hearts in tune with the Spirit, we will be assembling together and exhorting one another so much the more.

It is this that God has laid upon His unworthy servant’s heart. And it is this which is His purpose for this site. May He bless all of us with discernment and watchfulness.
